The RDR II was my first attempt at clustering. Though the rocket is meant to fly on clusters of black powder Estes motors, I have only flown it on composites. Its first attempt at flight ended with only one motor igniting, and the resulting asymmetrical thrust tore the launch lug off of the rocket and tipped over the pad. Its second attempt at flight was perfect. Because clustering 24mm composites is trickier than it sounds, I have yet to fly the RDR II more than once.
